In the past you could visit the Collins reflector archives. There the =
archives can be searched with a built in search engine. It's very handy =

the Collins Collectors Association web page you will find a link to the =
above mentioned archives. If you click on it, at least from here, it =
will be a dead link. It's been that way for several weeks.

I'd be very curious how these Power Bright Regulators work. Their
description says something like.... " Fully Automatic Servo Motor type".
That to me implies a motor driven Variac (???) which would work, but
wouldn't be too fast.
The old type Ferro-resonant transformers were quite effective regulators,
but were terribly inefficient. As I remember, they would draw full line
current even with light loads. While I'm not signing on to the religion of
Gore-Bull warming, I wouldn't want to pay the electric bill for one of THOSE
things.

Charlie,
Don't write any checks for your "Carbon Credits" yet.... We may have to add
coin boxes to our rigs to comply with the government requirements.
These live voltage stabilizers are quite fast and if you take a hit on the
line, such as a furnace starting up, you will hear a slight buzz that lasts
a fraction of a second.
The most dramatic motor noise takes place when powering up and powering down
the stabilizer. My line voltage is somewhere between 121 and 122 VAC. It
takes almost a second to go from dead off to an adjusted 115 VAC.
The adjustments do not last long and depending on your house AC is not a
nuisance. The bottom line is that the overwhelming majority of time that
your equipment is connected to the stabilizer, your line voltage remains
where you want it to be. So, overheating is minimized and your components
are much happier.
I have an old RCA line voltage monitor next to the rigs and that is plugged
into the stabilizer. My unit is under the operating desk and it is
difficult for me to see the voltmeter and ammeter, so I rely on the desk top
meter.
The unit has been reliable and once you have used it for a while, you will
not be as prone to checking it all the time to make sure that it did not
take off and run the voltage up to 240.

While I'm not signing on to the religion of
Gore-Bull warming, I wouldn't want to pay the electric bill for one of THOSE
things.

was a pale threat, all the work is on me to do that, as well right now I
got no ARCHIVES to take along with us....and at 1200 plus subscribers', it
is just not pretty picture to pack us up and 'move out' he knew we were not
so likely to move ...there was additional discussion, but the end result is
no difference in our present situation ...
thank you for your patience...
