{Collins} Re: DeOxit

It is always wise to use DeOxit sparingly. I prefer the 100% solution
applied directly via needle applicator or Q-tip an avoid drowning the
area with the commonly available 5% spray. The 100% stuff is also
very effective. But I have never had a HV problem even when forced to
use the spray to get into hard to access areas. I have certainly
worried about the potential conductivity problem and did contact Caig
Labs before using it on the HV ceramic wafers on my Johnson Matchbox
Jr. I was told that it is not conductive after it dries, but under no
circumstances should power be applied when wet. The more you drown
the switch the more you have to wait. The more you drown the switch
the more risk that phenolic wafer sections will swell up. And pots
can take an especially long time to dry because you have to spray them
and the ventilation is poor.

Bottom line: Always use DeOxit sparingly and always let it thoroughly
dry before applying power. But don't not use it; it's great stuff.
