For toddlers AND their parents!
Students, along with a parent or guardian, will work on theatrical fundamentals
such as storytelling, emotional _expression_, creative movement, musical
awareness, and vocal exploration.
This class is taught in the style of
a "mommy-and-me" class. Students will use their imaginations in a variety of
storytelling activities such as crafts, puppetry, music and movement
exploration, dramatic play and creative invention. These exercises provide a
foundation for theatrical skills such as understanding story elements, character
development, creative movement, vocal exploration, and improvisation. Students
will also actively engage in creating elements of technical theatre such as
costumes, props, make-up, or scene design. This course is designed to be
repeated.

fundaments including stage directions, movement for the stage, introduction to
vocal production and emotional _expression_, developing awareness of technical
theatre, and understanding theatre as an art form.
Students in Acting I will gain
knowledge and skills that will serve as a foundation for future theatrical
endeavors. Skills include stage directions, movement for the stage, vocal
production, emotional _expression_, and improvisation. Students will also discuss
practical aspects of theatre such as audience etiquette and elements of
technical theatre. Students discuss the art of theatre & storytelling and
compare the art form to real life. Students will have the opportunity to apply
their skills by rehearsing and presenting a class performance. Students will
receive constructive feedback for their work. This course is designed to be
repeated.

for the stage, vocal production & auditioning. This class will have an
additional focus on understanding, performing, and evaluating drama from a
specific time period.
Students in Acting III will enhance
performance skills by working on fundamentals such as character development,
movement for the stage, vocal production, auditioning & theatrical process;
while gaining a deeper understanding of drama in relation to history and
culture. Students will work on a theatrical presentation from a specific time
period and learn fun and interesting facts on a historical time period. They
will be introduced to some aspects of technical theatre such as: costumes,
props, make-up, sound, lights or scene design. Students will have the
opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills by rehearsing and presenting a
final performance. Students will receive constructive feedback for their work.

will work at their own pace. Skills include vocal production, movement for the

Students will develop these skills through scene study & monologues.
Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge & skills by
rehearsing & presenting a final performance. Students will receive

Musical Theater

build skills in three areas of musical theater: acting, singing and dancing.
They will be introduced to practical theatre aspects such as auditioning and
rehearsal process, audience etiquette, theatre vocabulary, stage directions,
character development, singing technique, reading music and choreographed
movement. They will be introduced to some aspects of technical theatre such as:
costumes, props, make-up or scene design. Students will compare and contrast
aspects of Musical Theatre Performance with other theatrical forms. Students
will have the opportunity to apply these skills by working on short skits and a
musical number consisting of acting, singing and choreographed movement.
