[NEohioPAL] Seeking Clarinet Player for Sweeney Todd at Lakeland

SEEKING CLARINET PLAYER for SWEENEY TODD

Where:          LAKELAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE

When:           2-3 Orchestra Rehearsals - TBA

Tech Rehearsals – Mon-Thu, Jan 28-31

Performances – Feb 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 @ 8:00 pm; Feb 3, 10, 17 @ 2:00 pm

Description:  Director Martin Friedman and I are blessed with a remarkable cast for this undertaking of Sweeney Todd.  The talent of the other instrumentalists is exceptionally strong.  To fill out this pit, I need an accomplished clarinet player.  This is a paid engagement with a stipend comparable to other local theaters.

We are performing the reduced orchestration (also by Jonathan Tunick, the original orchestrator).  In scaling this orchestration from the original 26 players down to nine, the parts are remarkably challenging both in terms of technique and stamina.  Because this orchestration does not require doubling, I am looking for a strong player whose principle instrument is clarinet.  This piece is also exceptionally challenging from a rhythm perspective requiring flexibility and strong ensemble listening skills.

If you are interested in auditioning to play for this engagement, call Larry Goodpaster at 216-253-2077 or e-mail me at larry_goodpaster@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Thanks for your interest and participation.  Everyone else, I encourage to come see an outstanding production!

Larry
