TURNING POINTE WORKSHOP SERIES BEGINS THIS THURSDAY

CANAL FULTON – It’s the beginning of a new year and The Turning Pointe School of Dance can help you get started on the right foot – so to speak.

The dance school at 2387 Locust St. S. is offering an eight-week ballroom dance workshop series Thursdays Jan. 10 through March 6.

Joseph Rittenhouse, a part-time faculty member at the University of Akron who teaches ballroom and Latin dance courses, will teach two classes for the workshop: Absolute Beginner Ballroom/Latin and Absolute Beginner Argentine Tango. The ballroom and Latin class is 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays and the Argentine Tango class is 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Cost is $95 for individual and $175 for couple; for both classes $175 for individual and $320 for couple.

For the past 18 years, Rittenhouse has made ballroom and Latin dance his profession. He was certified at a Fred Astaire studio in Columbus and continued to train with top competitive professionals such as Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin. He has managed three studios in Orlando and he has competed as a professional couple at the World Salsa Quarterfinals in 2001. The workshop series at The Turning Pointe is perfect for people without any dance experience or as a refresher course.

To register or for more information call The Turning Pointe School of Dance at 330-854-1417.
