CONTEMPORARY CLOTH ARTISTS SHOW
JANUARY 16 ? MARCH 7, 2008
BCA invites you to view our latest gallery show ? ?Words to Live By?, the 2008-2009 traveling exhibition from CoCA.
Each artist picked a phrase that many of us use and translated it into a work of art. Nineteen different pieces
compose the show with themes including: Stop and Smell the Roses, Take Time to Reflect, Circles of Life, Bloom Where You are Planted and It?s Okay to Color Outside the Lines. Each piece grabs your attention, really making you think about the words and how they have meaning in your life. The detail and composition are remarkable and show off the talent and creativity from the artists.
CoCA (Contemporary Cloth Artists) is a group of fiber artists from the Greater Cleveland area. Formed in 2000, many CoCA members are professional studio artists who regularly exhibit in regional, national, and international juried art quilt exhibitions such as Quilt National, Visions, Fiber Art International, Art Quilts at the Sedgewick, Art Quilts at the Whistler and more. The
majority of CoCA?s members are quilt artists; however, some work in other fiber media, silk painting, innovative quilt making, wearable art and surface design. CoCA members come from various backgrounds, but share the love of fiber and the creative arts.
A major focus of CoCA is to provide support and continuing education for the artists who make up the membership, while striving to promote public awareness of quilting and creative cloth as an art form though exhibitions of the group?s work.
Many of the pieces exhibited are for sale and some of
CoCA?s professional members accept private commissions. If you are interested in a commissioned piece of art, or wish to purchase one the exhibition pieces, please contact Carole Pollard at lionsong@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx or 330-274-0118.
