The Tri-C West Theatre Department announces auditions for: “1776”
book by Peter Stone with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards
Directed by: R. Scott Posey
1776 tells of the story of the days leading up to the signing of “The Declaration of Independence”. These events include Thomas Jefferson being convinced by John Adams and Benjamin Franklin to write the Declaration as well as George Washington writing reports of too many military defeats. The quest for America's independence is almost ended when one more vote against the Declaration will stand in the way freedom from Britain. Much of the music and dialogue in 1776 is taken from eyewitness accounts of the founding fathers.
