[NEohioPAL] BRECKSVILLE THEATER ON THE SQUARE RECEIVES GRANT

BRECKSVILLE THEATER ON THE SQUARE

RECEIVES GRANT AND ANNOUNCES 2008 SEASON

Brecksville Theater On The Square has been named the recipient of a three year grant from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.  Passed by voters as Issue 18 in November, 2006, funds have become available to arts organizations within the county. BTOTS is one of only four community theaters receiving a grant, and the funds are earmarked for the enhancement of its education program.

The theater has big plans for 2008! Winter classes are set to begin in February with the continuance of a master class session on film and TV, taught by Jean Zarzour. BTOTS’ highly popular summer camp will be held over two weeks in July, culminating in a weekend of performances. (Please note summer camp will again be restricted to 100 students, so watch for announcements and register early). Finally the fall class session will consist of a series of unique workshops for all ages, covering topics such as technical theater, acting, dance, playwriting and so on. Add to this the monthly senior play reading group, The Retreads, as well as more master classes to be announced, and it all adds up to a very active year for theater education. All class sessions are held in BTOTS’ newly renovated classrooms on the grounds of Blossom Hill and at the Old Town Hall Theater.

The 2008 performance season opens with the smash hit Disney’s High School Musical, running February 7th-17th, featuring a cast of 28 students and two adults, directed by Kimberly Bush. From May 2nd-10th   BTOTS will present the musical revue The World Goes ‘Round, showcasing the work of Broadway legends Kander and Ebb. The season ends with the classic family musical The Wizard of Oz, running September 26th-October 12th. Audition and ticket information will be posted on the BTOTS website or is available by calling the box office at (440)526-3443.
