CASTING NEEDS
Cain Park is committed to non-traditional casting.  Actors will be cast solely on the basis of talent, except in cases where age, race or physical ability is essential to a role.  See THE WIZ for specific needs.  Non-Equity actors are not paid for their participation in Cain Park productions.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Memorize/prepare 2 short songs in the style of the shows (see THE WIZ for specific details)
2. Bring sheet music in the proper key (accompanist provided)—no taped music allowed.
Please note: you will not be allowed to audition without sheet music.
3. Bring current photo and resume (will be retained by Cain Park).
4. Check your calendar for any conflicts before auditioning (see rehearsal & performance dates below).
Please note...rehearsals usually occur Tuesday-Friday evenings and day/evening hours on weekends.
5. Allow enough time to park, fill out your paperwork, and be on time for your audition!

Rehearsals begin Tuesday, May 20 at Grace Lutheran Church (13001 Cedar Road in Cleveland Heights)
Performance dates: June 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29, July 2, 3, 5, 6 Evans Amphitheater, 8pm.

THE WIZ Casting Needs:  Equity (Equity Guest Artist Contract) & Non-Equity, ages high school and up.  All roles are open.  Those auditioning should prepare a jazz, Motown, pop or R&B vocal as one of their selections.

This is a multi-ethnic version of THE WIZ.  Casting will not be based solely on looks but rather on those who have the right voices and the right attitudes for the characters.  Individuality is key.

Cast of 35:  11 principals, 4 pit singers, 20 singers/dancers for chorus.
? Dorothy -- petite actress with good singing voice who dances.  Must have strong belt.
? Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion -- exceptional character actors who sing and dance.
? The Wiz -- character baritone who sings.  Gospel.
? Evillene -- character actress with strong voice and good comic timing.
? Addaperle and Glinda -- actresses who sing.
? Aunt Em, Uncle Henry -- actors who sing.
? Large singing/dancing chorus -- excellent male and female singers with great dancing ability from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds will comprise the ensemble.
? Non-singing dancers -- all shapes and sizes with interesting physical characteristics or special skills, such as stilt walkers, gymnasts, contortionists and dancers specializing in a wide variety of dance styles.
