This multi-media production is based upon the memoirs of Sonderkommandoes at Auschwitz.  These Jewish prisoners were forced to aid in the extermination of their brethren and were themselves sent to the gas chamber.

 

In conjunction with the production a series of free presentations prior to five of the performances. All will be held in the John Patrick Theatre of the Kleist Center.

 

February 27, 6:00 p.m. Kate Craddy, director of the Galicia Jewish Museum and co-curator of the photo exhibit, will present “Traces of memory: A Contemporary Look at the Jewish Past in Poland.

 

February 29, 6:00 p.m. Eden Valley Enterprises presents “Letters in the Margins: a memory of WW II,” a true story of a couple’s work on the European Underground by Shelley Pearsall; performed by Bette Lou Higgins and Barb Knight.

 

March 1, 6:00 p.m. Amanda Durst - “Starting in Innocence: The challenges of doing Holocaust drama.”    

 

March 2, 1:00 p.m.. Survivor Forum with Max Edelman and Betty Gold – Holocaust survivors will share their stories.

 

March 8, 5:30 p.m. John Roth, Henry “Hank” Knight and John Gordon.
