[NEohioPAL] 2nd Annual East Cleveland Suzuki Violin Workshop
CIM's Cavani Quartet will perform the Tchaikovsky Sextet, Souvenir de Florence on Thursday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Windermere United Methodist Church as part of the 2nd Annual East Cleveland Suzuki Violin Workshop, which will be from Monday, April 14th to Friday, April 18th.
Our guest clinician is Arvilla Rovit. Ms. Rovit served as Principal Violist of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra while participating in CIM's Young Artist Program from 1992 to 1996, then completed her B.M. and M.M. at New York's prestigious Juilliard School, where she studied with Heidi Castleman, Misha Amory, and Hsin-Yun Huang. Upon graduating from Juilliard, Arvilla was awarded a Special Award for Achievement by Drs. Marilyn Pearl and Norman Roland. She completed her Suzuki training at New York's School for Strings, and also studied with William Preucil, Sr., Betsy Stuen-Walker and others. Her early Suzuki teachers included Louse Zeitlin, Mark Bjork, and many others, including a summer workshop with Dr. Suzuki, and she attended Suzuki workshops in Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Appleton, Green Bay, Chicago, Louisville, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere. She has studied and performed at the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Rovit is co-founder of the Norman School for Strings, and has performed in orchestras including the Oklahoma Philharmonic, the Alabama Symphony, the Montgomery Symphony, the Tuscaloosa Symphony, etc., etc., etc. She is an active chamber musician, performances including Guest Performance University of Alabama Faculty Recital, the Quartz Mountain Chamber Players, Brightmusic Chamber Music Series, Oklahoma Viola Society Viola Day Recital, Guest Performance with Quartet Oklahoma, Faculty Recitals at Brooklyn College, OU Norton Recital Series, the National Composers Conference, etc.
Ms. Rovit teaches annually at the School for Strings Suzuki Institute, the Brooklyn College Suzuki Workshop, and the Norman School for Strings Suzuki Workshop, as well as teaching privately.
Ms. Rovit is married to violinist Peter Rovit and is the mother of Mitchell Rovit, age 10 months, who loves the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola.
