PARMA –
The theatre department of Cuyahoga Community College’s Western Campus
will present 1776 April 18-27. Performances will be on the Western
Campus Theatre’s Main Stage located at 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Parma.
The show opens on April 18th and runs Friday through Sunday
the first weekend, and Wednesday through Sunday the second week. The
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.
The Sunday performances will be at 3 p.m. 1776 tells of the story of the days
leading up to the signing of “The Declaration of
Independence”. These events include Thomas Jefferson being
convinced by John Adams and Benjamin Franklin to write the Declaration as well
as George Washington writing reports of too many military defeats. The
quest for America’s independence is almost ended when one more vote
against the Declaration will stand in the way of freedom from Britain.
Much of the music and dialogue in 1776 is taken from eye-witness
accounts of the founding fathers. R. Scott
Posey who directed last season’s blockbuster production of Peter Pan
returns to direct and play the role of Rutledge. Cast of List President/John
