Living Fountain Dance Company, a local 501(c)3 arts organization, welcomes the Thai Dance Troupe on Saturday, April 19th at First Friends Church of Canton, 5455 Market Avenue North in Canton. This seven-person team of Thai dancers and actors from Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand are on their 25-date U.S. tour. The program tour is an excellent opportunity for Americans to experience the beauty and drama of Thai classical art. “We have appeared in the United States several times already,” says Rob Collins, the Thai Troupe’s director,“and folks usually comment, ‘If we’d known how good this was going to be, we’d have worked harder to promote it.’”
Master Classes: The groups will offer a combined Modern Dance and Thai Dance Master Class from noon to 3pm. Anyone with a willingness to learn Thai dance is welcome, regardless of skill or experience level. Registration for this all-day workshop is $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
Concert: At 7pm, Living Fountain Dance Company and the Thai Dance Troupe will present a concert together. The eighty-minute performance will feature a number of dances from various regions of Thailand and a traditional Thai melodrama (Likay) with English translation. A $10 donation is suggested for concert admission.
Advance tickets for both events are available by phone at 330-649-0773. For more information, please call 330.649.0773 or email info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
