JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                 Toddler room care and teaching attendant

DATE WRITTEN:            April 17, 2008

REPORTS TO:            Designated coordinator within education committee

EXPECTATIONS OF WORK SCHEDULE:

Sundays 9:30am-12:30pm during regular worship schedule

Sundays 9:30am-11:30am during summer worship schedule (2nd Sunday in June through 1st  Sunday before Labor Day)

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

To care for the infants and toddlers of the Church congregation during Sunday worship.  To provide an age-appropriate Sunday school lesson for the toddlers using approved materials.

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

1.      Provide consistent care for children in the toddler room, newborn to 5 years old.

2.      Provide a healthy, safe, organized, and welcoming environment for the infants and toddlers.

3.      Administer PHUMC Child Protection Policy and the sign-in/sign-out policy.

4.      Change diapers of infants and toddlers, following proper health guidelines, as needed.

5.      Assist toddlers in their potty training efforts, as needed.

6.      Sanitize nursery toys once a calendar quarter and as needed.

7.      Notify coordinator of needed supplies, volunteer assistance, or suggestions for improving care.

8.      Distribute a healthy snack during the Sunday worship.

9.      Feed infants as needed.

10.  Supervise/coordinate with volunteer assistants.

11.  Notify parents when necessary with pager system.

12.  Provide an age-appropriate Sunday school lesson for the toddlers using approved materials.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.      18 years of age or older.

2.      Ability to pass a standard background check.

3.      Ability to provide at least 3 references (personal, business, non-familial).

4.      Enjoy working with infants and toddlers.

5.      Ability to work well with others.

6.      High school diploma or equivalent.

7.      Demonstrated ability to teach children in a Christian setting.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.      Experience caring for infants and toddlers.

2.      Current certification in infant CPR/First aid, or ability and willingness to become certified.
