Classic 1940’s Comedy
BORN YESTERDAY
Opens at Actors’ Summit

comedy, will be presented by
Actors’ Summit

the official opening on Friday, May 2. Performances are given on Thursdays,

The
Play
Garson
Kanin (husband of actress Ruth Gordon) wrote Born Yesterday just after the end
of World War II. Set against the background of post-war Washington, D.C.,
the play twists the
myth of Pygmalion into a comedy. Billie Dawn, a role immortalized on stage and
screen by Judy Holliday, is the mistress of Harry Brock, a junkyard baron with
the voice and vocabulary of a gangster and the moral fiber—and
ambition—of a thug. With Billie in tow, he has come to a swank hotel to
work out a deal with a senator, who has been bought and paid for. To help
Billie fit in with Washington
society, Brock hires an investigative reporter to smooth out her rough edges
with unanticipated consequences.
The Cast
Equity
actors Neil Thackaberry, Dana Hart and Peter Voinovich play the three men who
surround the beautiful former chorus girl Billie Dawn played by Alicia Kahn.
Thackaberry portrays Harry Brock the junk dealer / millionaire. Hart plays the
inebriated lawyer Jim Devery. Peter Voinovich takes on the role of Paul Verral,
the reporter Brock hires to take the “rough edges” off of his
girlfriend. Steve and Linda Ryan play Senator and Mrs. Norval Hedges. The cast
is completed with Actors’ Summit
regulars Jocelyn Roueiheb and Scott Thomas.
