[NEohioPAL] It's Tribe Time with Carousel's Damn Yankees

It’s time to PLAY BALL at Carousel in this classic musical, which gets a new Tribe Twist! Carousel rewrites this “All American” musical based on America’s favorite past-time, Baseball, to bring you a show everyone will love. It’s the Cleveland Indians versus those Damn Yankees with an all-star lineup of Broadway stars and NYC actors portraying the actual 1958 team. Cheer for your home team as the Tribe takes on the Yankees in the fight for the American League pennant! Winner of 7 Tony Awards, this smash hit includes the songs “Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets),” “Those Were the Good Old Days” and “Shoeless Joe.” Don’t miss the home opener at Carousel April 30 playing through June 28.

Middle-aged baseball fanatic, Joe Boyd, sells his soul to the devil to become a young baseball player in hopes of leading his hapless home team, the Cleveland Indians, to an American League pennant victory. Selling his soul and leaving his wife to be the player his team needs causes Joe do to some serious thinking about his true desires, which may not be what he thought. Seductress Lola pulls out all the stops in an attempt to keep Joe from breaking his pact with the Devil through an escape clause. Originally based on the Washington Senators, Carousel brings an exciting new twist to this classic musical by teaming up with the Indians against the team everyone loves to hate… those Damn Yankees! The show New York Times calls “a mostly breathless recollection of a kind of sophisticated, slightly bogus Broadway innocence that still charms.” It is easy to see why it remains one of America’s favorite musicals.

The cast features Broadway veterans Jim Corti as Mr. Applegate (the Devil) and Ashlee Fife as the seductress Lola. An experienced veteran, Jim Corti has appeared on Broadway as Harry Houdini in the original Broadway cast of Ragtime. Corti has also appeared in other Broadway productions such as A Chorus Line and Candide, and National Tours of Urinetown, Cabaret and Dancin’. Corti has received Chicago’s Joseph Jefferson award for his role in Grand Hotel. Ashlee Fife, a Broadway actress, has been seen in the production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as well as New York City shows The Merry Widow, Follies and The Day Before Spring as well as the National Tours of The Scarlet Pimpernel and Some Like It Hot. She spent 7 years as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette, and some of her regional production highlights include roles in Annie, It’s a Wonderful Life, Violet Bick, 42nd St., Peggy Sawyer and She Loves Me.
