Hudson Players Announce 64th Season!

Hudson’s Community Theater Announces Schedule for 2008-09. Season Tickets Now Available!

The Hudson Players, have announced their 64th season and it promises something for everyone. Beginning with a great mystery-comedy that’s sure to amuse and confuse, continuing with a flashback never before seen double-header of a musical and then finishing with a classic, fun, favorite, musical comedy, Hudson’s long running community theater troupe promises not to disappoint audiences with their exciting 2008-09 season. (Season Tickets are currently available at www.hudsonplayers.com)

It begins with ACCOMPLICE by Rupert Holmes. This twisty, sure to fool and amuse mystery-comedy will be presented November 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 & 22 and will be directed by Claudia Lillibridge and produced by Marianne Karlson. Auditions to be held September 14 & 15 at the Barlow Community Center at 7 p.m. Not recommended for children, this mystery of a mystery takes place on a rainy night and features love, lust, jealousy, greed and revenge. ACCOMPLICE will keep you guessing who is killing whom? For whom? And who is whom anyway? This audacious twist on the twisted mystery plot is a plot within a plot within a play within a plot.  Or is it a play within a plot with a plot within a play…or is it…simply too much fun? Theater goers are encouraged to just give up guessing and enjoy the wickedly funny ride.

Following this will be the back to back, fun 50’s musical journey that is THE TAFFETAS and THE CARDIGANS (director still to be determined). Presented February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27 & 28 and written by Rick Lewis, these two popular musicals are being assembled together as a single evening’s entertainment for the first time ever! (Auditions to be held November 16 & 17.) Join Kaye, Peggy, Cheryl and Donna, four singing sisters from Muncie, Indiana as they reminisce about making their national television singing debut. THE TAFFETAS pay tribute to the sounds of The McGuire Sisters, The Fontane Sisters and The Chordettes. Opening Off-Broadway almost two years before "Forever Plaid," THE TAFFETAS prove to be an irresistible evening and remind you what Sunday night television was like in black and white! They then introduce THE CARDIGANS, who hail from Wooster, Ohio - the College of Wooster, to be exact! Join the boys as they reminisce about their college days, their ex-girlfriends, their childhoods as sons of Protestant ministers, and their fame as singing idols. They'll sing some of the greatest hits of the 1950's – songs you know and love and that they recorded on their first album, "Wooster in my Heart."  THE CARDIGANS is music, fun and harmony. Winner of the 1990 New York Bistro Award For Outstanding Musical Revue!

Finally, the Hudson Players will close their 2008-09 season with the classic musical fable that is GUYS AND DOLLS directed by Rich Jagunic and produced by Trish Davis and Gary Maher. With performances being held April 24, 25, May 1, 2, 8, 8, 10, 15 & 16, and auditions March 1 & 2, many say that this show is the perfect musical comedy.  Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, this oddball romantic and comedic event soars with the spirit of Broadway as it introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends in musical theater history. Nathan, Sky, Adelaide, Sarah sing through such hits as “Luck Be A Lady,” “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” and more. There is plenty of excitement, but everything works out in the end, thanks to the machinations of Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling's hilarious, fast-paced book and Frank Loesser's bright, brassy, immortal score, which takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City. Funny, fast paced and romantic, Guys And Dolls is ideal for audiences of any age.
