Audition Dates, Times, Appointments and Location:

Saturday September 6th 1:00pm until 5:00pm

Sunday September 7th 12:00pm  until 2:00pm

 

Callbacks will be held on September 7th from 2:00 – 5:00pm

at Mayfield Village Performing Arts Center, 6622 Wilson Mills Road, Mayfield Village

Audition Preparation:

Please prepare a one minute monologue from a Shakespearian play that is not from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Roles Available: Ages 12 through 22

The men and women in the play of high social class:

Lysander, beloved of Hermia

Hermia, beloved of Lysander, engaged to Demetrius

Helena, in love with Demetrius

Demetrius, in love with Hermia but then falls in love with Helena later on. Engaged to Hermia

Egeus, father of Hermia, wants to force Hermia to wed Demetrius

Theseus, Duke of Athens, good friend of Egeus

Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons and betrothed of Theseus

The lower-class citizens in the play:

Philostrate, Master of the Revels for Theseus

The acting troupe (otherwise known as The Mechanicals):

Peter Quince, carpenter, who leads the troupe

Nick Bottom, weaver; he plays Pyramus in the troupe's production of "Pyramus and Thisbe," and gets a donkey head put on him by Puck so that Titania will magically fall in love with a monster.

Francis Flute, the bellows-mender who plays Thisbe.

Robin Starveling, the tailor who plays Moonshine.

Tom Snout, the tinker who plays the wall.

Snug, the joiner who plays the lion.

Rehearsal Information

Rehearsals begin the week of September 22 and continue through November 13, 4 to 6 days a week.  Rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays will be from 7:30 pm - 9:30pm . On Tuesdays and Thursdays will be from 4:00pm - 6:30pm. On Sundays rehearsals will be from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal until the final two weeks. (Beginning November 2) Please be prepared to list all conflicts at the time of the audition. From the conflicts listed the director will determine the rehearsal schedule, which hopefully will not be altered. The early rehearsals will take the form of a seminar on acting the works of William Shakespeare.


Performance Dates:

November 14, 15, 16, 21, 22  and 23. Two performances on November 16 and 23.


Tuition: There will be a participation fee and a minimum number of tickets that each cast member will be required to purchase.  Specific details will be available at auditions.
