RE: clothing/tool allowance

At the Dallas Museum of Art we have neither personal work clothing allowance nor tool allowance.  If tools are required by a preparator, they are purchased by the museum or a receipt turned into accounting for reimbursement…  There is no “set” spending limit, but generally we stick to small purchases only.  These tools become property of the museum.

Subject: clothing/tool allowance

Dear List Members,

I would like to know how many preparators out there get some kind of annual personal work clothing and/or tool allowance, or get personal work clothing or tool purchases reimbursed by your institutions?  If so, for what kinds of items are you reimbursed, and what is your approximate spending limit?

Thank you,
