Re: LED Lighting in Galleries

Title: Re: LED Lighting in Galleries
Dear Glen,

Having just attended the GE Lighting Institute seminar on museum lighting this past fall I can tell you that the consensus among the staff and visiting experts is that LEDs are not yet useful for direct lighting but have their place as an indirect light source in light boxes and in cases. They are cool running and long lasting. Another problem is the color of the light is not naturally accurate enough for our purposes and the color temperature is difficult and expensive to manipulate. From GEs point of view LEDs are the next big idea and huge advances in the technology are promised.

Kind regards,

Steve
