Hi,

As the former Senior Mountmaker in the Antiquities Conservation Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum I can tell you that the antiquities collection, both on display and in storage, have some exceptional mounts.  They are discreet, stylistically consistent, and, most importantly, protect the objects from damage due to earthquakes, something I'm sure concerns you.

The Villa Museum, which now houses mainly Greek and Roman antiquities reopened slightly more than a year ago and it's spectacular.  Currently there are three full-time Antiquities Conservation Mountmakers and they are the best I've seen.  They have a very busy temporary exhibit schedule, but I'm sure they could find some time to show you around the museum and talk with you.  You should give them a call.
