unsung heroes

Just passing on an inquiry from a journalist interested in what we do. It's about time!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a journalist (www.rjsj.demon.co.uk) writing a piece for the Sunday Telegraph in England about the men and women who hang art. I want to present them as the 'unsung heroes' of the art world, and really go into the 'art' of what they do. When someone looks at a piece of art they rarely think about why it's hung or installed in the place it is, and the work that went into that process - that's what this piece should look at. I would've thought this line of work has changed in recent years, what with rotting sharks and all, so a hanger has to be both 'artistic', have a good eye, etc, and probably be a bit of an 'engineer' too. I wondered if you could point me in the right direction? Anyone you think I should speak to? Who has good stories to tell? Anything you think I should read? How does the American experience differ from the British? Have you hung art for celebrities?

With very best wishes,

Richard Johnson
