RE: schott glass
Dear Bruce,
You might already have tech spec's for the product, but just in case:
http://www.us.schott.com/special_applications/english/products/non_reflective_glass/mirogard/index.html?highlighted_text=mirogard
We have packed and shipped quite a number of glassed museum loans to international destinations and not encountered
a problem in terms of glass breakage.
It is important to know which size your paintings do have, as weight increases heavily. From sizes of approx. 50 x 50 inches
some museums do have a tendency to pack the glass separately ( in a separate layer of the case).
As yours is a travelling show this procedure most probably is not reasonable.
I believe you will not have a problem to find a NY based crating company providing consultancy experience.
My regards

Subject: schott glass
Hello members,
i have a question about Schott glass. We have a large exhibition of paintings from our collection going to 5 venues in Japan next year.
We have been asked to glaze our paintings with Shott glass. I have some safety concerns (no matter how well the crate is constructed), to say the least. Would anyone with experience with this product who has sent it overseas care to weigh in? Any information from your point of view would be welcome. The paintings have some size to them.
Thanks.
