Foam specs

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a chart out there that specifies the type  
and amount of foam to use in a crate, based on the weight and surface  
area of the object. In most applications, there is a combination of  
Ester and EthaFoam... But how can one determine the right amount, to  
avoid too much bounce or too much shock?
