RE: monofilament

Dear Barbara,

Often the vendor McMaster Carr has excellent informational pages about their products, however for monofilament they did not. It appears the questions you’re curious about, especially dimensional change, are answered at the following link, which is an engineering resource. Unfortunately it appears to be subscription based (or individual article purchase).

PACIN subscribers will doubtlessly have other leads if you’re not in the market to pay for this information.

Good luck,

Does anyone know where to find information on the stability of monofilament? We have an artifact suspended from monofilament in a display case. It was installed there about 14 years ago.  Will that monofilament eventually fail/break even though it’s not exposed to sunlight or extremes of temperature? In other words, should the monofilament be replaced every ? years or not?
