One catch is that if you don't have a super-clean email list, it's definitely not the right solution. Another catch is that it doesn't have industrial-strength tracking tools if you need more than the basic, but those that do cost way more. Another catch is that to blend deliverability of emails via HTML and text-format-only (based on the recipient's email client) is not a particularly easy process to get perfect. They also have a survey function, although I don't know anyone who uses it. - We also toy around with iContact when sending surveys on behalf of clients with email lists that aren't perfectly maintained. Not a bad option in that case. - We don't use PatronMail, but hear it is pretty good at serving non-profit organizations since that's where they focus. My parting comments is that it's hugely worthwhile upgrading the harvesting and hygiene of email lists. We're seeing that an effective email newsletter process is one of the few marketing tactics that can move the needle at low budgets, if done well. If anyone wants to get into deeper discussions about email harvesting, hygiene, deliverability and overall efficacy, feel free to get in touch. Good luck!
