Re: [PRAM] Anyone posting event photos?

Thanks, Anne-Marie! This sounds like an effective and comprehensive way to go about it.

Hello,

We also use Flickr as part of our social media mix. We link to it via our website and e-newsletters too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/minneapolisinstituteofarts/

We just started our account this spring, and it's been very successful for us. You can track your views, and we've had thousands of views-over 30,000 the month of October alone with our Louvre exhibition opening events photos. We post "Behind the Scenes" photos, event photos, and even have "Wallpaper Wednesdays," where we post an image from our collection that can be downloaded as iPhone wallpaper. Our Visual Resources department manages our Flickr site, and uploads images/tags as part of their photo process.

We also have two Flickr group pools related to our site. We are now encouraging visitors to upload images of their museum visit to these sites. We have a Flickr card with this message included at our Security Desk that accompanies our photo policy.

Hi, Steve:

We had a huge number of requests for photos after our 1920s "Evening at Gatsby's" event last July, so we did end up putting the snaps on our website. If you're curious:

http://www.sbcounty.gov/museum/Gatsby/gatsby.htm

We took the link down after a month or so, but we're going to reestablish it because images of people having a good time at a museum event can't hurt!

It was time-consuming to get these images cropped, sized, and posted, and I doubt we'd make a regular practice of it. I'd love to hear other solutions.

We take a lot of photos at our events and programs and frequently get requests from people to be able to view them. I'm wondering if anyone posts their event photos and, if so, how? It's time-consuming to put them on our own site but it looks like photo sites like Flickr are about individual memberships (i.e., for people, not organizations) and Shutterfly seems to be all about selling images, which I don't really want to get into. Would appreciate any insights. Thanks.

Steve
