Hi Andy -You are looking at the correct location.  It is not necessary to
remove the top cover to see the label.  Usually a flashlight and a bit of
squinting will do.  When looking from the front top of the amp, it is inside
the rf cage on the rear vertical panel just to the left of the 811's and in
line with the plane of the fan blade.  Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for
the label to come off and be lost somewhere along the way leaving just an
outline of where it once proudly stood!  73  --don n4hh
