{Collins} Re: KWM-2 History Questions

Bob
I have a 1961 KWM-2 and it has a trimmer at ( C ) 14. It's a 8-50. Mine also has the rca jack labeled External Mute. Per my manual it's j8 and goes to both the 1st & 2nd rcv mixer grids, product det. grid,& k2 pins 3&8. There is also a note in the manual that states DO NOT USE.

  Subject: {Collins} KWM-2 History Questions

I've got a fairly early KWM-2 that has a chassis plug
where a 14Mhz Driver Plate trimmer would have been.
It's even stamped "(C) 14", and has the 2 small
trimmer mounting holes. Did they ever produce KWM-2s
with that trimmer, or was it deleted from the design
  after the chassis were stamped?

Also, one of the rear RCA jacks on this unit is marked
EXT MUTE where the SPARE is on my -2A. I don't have a
schematic for this, and the wire is eluding my old
eyes under a turret. Anyone know what this EXT MUTE
  is?

  thanks,

  Bob - AE6RV
