{Collins} Collins:RE 572B in 30L-1



Just my 2 cents worth on this subject.

Art Collins may have used the 572B's in the 30L-1 had they been available during
the design of the 30L-1.   The 30L-1 came out in 1961 and that is the first year
the 572 (not "B") shows up in the ARRL handbook.  If those dates are correct
both designs were "on the board" at the same time.  Another factor to consider
in 1961 would be the ready availability of surplus 811A's.

Until I run out of 811A's I'll keep using them.  Then, who knows?  The 572B is
certainly more "robust" so maybe they will last longer.
