Re: {Collins} 51J-4 filters

I have some 500khz collins filters of the F500Y- variety. One is the 3.1khz but the other is 12Khz. That would be F500Y-120-0001 as the designator. These were used in a piece of test equipment that was purposefully built - nothing commercial. I'm wondering if the 12Khz filters are of any use in a communications receiver. I know that 6 and even 8 khz bandwidth are used for AM but I've never heard of 12 - it seems kind of wide.

I've seen Collins 500 kHz crystal filters with bandwidths in the hundreds of Hz and the same physical form factor as the mechanical filters in the 51J-4. I suspect they could be used successfully. They show up on the auction sites more often that you might think. Bob K4ERR Michael C. I'd love to find a filter that is narrower than the 1 KHz filter that is in the radio. I've searched and haven't been able to come with anything. It's probably because there isn't, but I thought I'd throw out the question. > > 73, > Mike WB0SND > _______________________________________________ > SHARE THE FUN: JOIN THE COLLINS COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION TODAY ! > http://www.collinsradio.org/membership/ > > NETS: Tues & Thur: 3.805 MHz-2000 Central + Fri: 3.895 MHz-2000 Pacific > SUNDAYS: 14.263 MHz-2000 UTC + AM Net: 29.050 MHz-1200 Central > 1st Wednesday AM Net 3.880 MHz-2000 local (ET, CT, MT, PT) > > LIST HELP?
