Jim's advice is good. I add this:

Put an X rated cap from hot line to neutral, and a Y rated cap from neutral to chassis. This way any (very very unlikely) failure will not cause any danger. Of course do use a three wire grounded line cord.

Get Y and Y rated caps from in Canada. Their web site has an informative note about line caps. I by lots of caps from them when I need them and am a happy customer.
