I considered doing that---make a short extension cord--- but concern over the additional drop of more plug and socket connections plus the plugs and sockets and labor to make up I deceided just making a longer cord for the supply was the way to go The cable is available from therfc. About $6 a foot may seem pricey but not really considering what is involved and it is the exact cable with the correct color code. Nice product. I only needed an additional foot and think I would hold the line at no more than 8 ft overall. Before I got the job done I ended up re-arranging rigs and no longer needed the long cord.
