capacitor...good idea.

Paul,

That's precisely what I did. And I pulled the e-clip on the linkage instead
of messing with the set screws.

It is a LOT easier just to remove the switch, coils AND loading capacitor as
one unit.
Less damage too

Hello, all. I figure it is time I updated all the helpful folks who helped
me get my broken 30L-1 back in operation. It is now operating as designed
and I have some spare parts and a bunch more knowledge of the inner workings

in case something goes south again.

Thankfully, the band switch was not damaged. The real problem was all of the

contacts were carbon tracked. With some DeOxit, q tips, thin cardboard
strips and 99% isopropyl alcohol, I got the switch looking like new. Using a

thin piece of card board on the wipers worked like a charm. Taking the
switch out wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be. The toughest part was

getting the heavy connection wires from the band switch to the loading
capacitor un-soldered. I had to replace one due to breaking it too short to
reconnect.

So thanks again to all who offered advice and spare parts. I hope someday I
can return the favor to someone in a bind.
