Re: {Collins} [Collins] Where did the S Line crowd go?

This thread could go the way of the apocryphal story from my flying days, when an air traffic controller advises long holding times to a line of instrument approach arrivals, hears a loud and clear expletive from a pilot, asks who said it, then gets a reply from every single aircraft along the lines "Metropolis Approach, Whiteknuckles123 advises we didn't say **** on frequency".

Notwithstanding......I'm pleased to advise that my RE S-line (32S-3, 75S-3B, 312B-4, 516F-2, 30L-1; 51S-1, 312B-3 and a borrowed 55G-1) is all working superbly and gets at least a weekly run. There was some minor excitement a few months ago when a second 516F-2 developed HT issues but that prompted a RadioFarm re-build; the PSU is now working well again. The 516F-2 connected at present is an overhauled tube unit, which works well, looks good and smells right.

Having the S-line on the air has stirred up some local activity and a few weeks ago we had a Collins West Australia net on 80 m, with two participants running 75S/32S combinations and two running KWM-2 based stations. We also had an honarary Drake particpant (R4/T4). Some of the gear had required re-furbishment to get to the point of being able to work on air, but everyone sounded good and the net attracted a good deal of favourable comment and interest from listeners.

Hi Doug,

I have an S-Line here. So far everything works. LOL

I have had to fix a few things though from time to time.

Anyone know where the S Line crowd went? Hard to believe in just a few years that there is no discussion on this list.
